Various Peruvian circles pay tribute to Moroccan initiative - 24/05/2007

Various political, parliamentary and academic circles from Peru have paid tribute to the Moroccan initiative to grant an enlarged autonomy to the Sahara within the framework of Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"We welcome your government initiative submitted to the UN Secretary-General and we hope that it will contribute to solve disagreement between parties ", said the University rector Ricardo Lima, the president of the National Rector Assembly, Mr. Ivan Rodriguez Chavez in a letter addressed to the Moroccan ambassador in Lima Mr. Abderrahim Mohandis.

In a similar message, the congressman Guido Lombardi Elias expresses his congratulations to Morocco for this initiative and its "conviction" that the adoption by the UN Security Council of the 1754 resolution will contribute to "prompt and right solution of the Sahara issue".

The fact that the UN Security Council unanimously adopted the aforementioned resolution will shorten deadlines to definitively overcome the political disagreement, while guaranteeing the full transparency of the autonomy process ".
